Risk Factors for Gestational Diabetes

Having had gestational diabetes during a previous pregnancy, being over 25 years old, being overweight and having given birth to a baby who weighed more than 9 pounds are some of the risk factors for developing gestational diabetes.

Gestational diabetes raises high blood glucose and causes many problems for both mother and baby, explains Dr. Ellen Schwartzbard, Obstetrician and Gynecologist with Baptist Health South Florida.
