Baseball: Common Elbow Injuries

Flexor tendinitis, ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury, valgus extension overload (VEO) and stress fractures are some of the common elbow injuries that are seen in baseball players. Dr. Derek Papp, Sports Medicine Physician at Miami Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute, explains a valgus extension overload syndrome is what happens over time if your collateral ligament stretches you out and start to wear on the other side of the elbow.

Concerning stress fractures, he says they happen when you throw too much and you get reaction inside the bone itself.
