Breast Augmentation vs. Breast Lift

Dr. Max Polo, Plastic Surgeon at Baptist Health South Florida, explains breast augmentation is giving more volume of the breast to the patient by placing implants, or sometimes they will do that with fat grafting from other areas of the body of the patient.

He also says a breast lift procedure is different from breast augmentation, because it involves tailoring of the skin of the breast and reshaping and removing the excess of skin in the breast and also lifting the nipple-areolar complex to a more appropriate higher position. They can also reshape the soft tissue, the glandular tissue of the breast and place a graft material to add support.
