Facing a Possible Cancer Diagnosis

It is important that people have a genetic testing done with the guidance of a genetic professional, affirms Jessica Ordonez, Clinical Genetics Manager and Counselor with Miami Cancer Institute.

“Counselors make sure that the patient understands that this is something that is benign, until proven otherwise, to minimize the anxiety that may result from this genetic test result” she says.
The counselor also says they are there to provide the necessary guidance if the result is reclassified as positive.
