How to prevent Dementia

Lifestyle is a very important factor in order to prevent Alzheimer’s, although there is not enough data about the factors that can cause the disease.

Dr. Brad Herskowitz, Neurologist at Baptist Health Neuroscience, says some studies have considered that exercising moderate capacity seems to help at least to stave off dementia, prevent it and stabilize it. Diets like Mediterranean diet with high fish, vegetables and fruits, too.

The doctor’s recommendation at home promotes a healthy lifestyle and controlling risk factors such a high blood pressure or diabetes. “These are important, because those can cause other types of dementia,” he says.

Also he urges his patients to consider getting involved in home care if it works for them.
