Learning About Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is an invasive diagnostic procedure in which a doctor inserts a tube usually in the arm or the leg, injects x-rays into the arteries and then using an x-ray camera, the physician can see if there are many blockages in those arteries, explains Dr. Marcus St. John, Cardiovascular Specialist with Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

The radiation of chest pain to the jaw or to the back of the arm is very common in cases of heart diseases, the specialist says.
