Type 1 vs. Type 2 Diabetes
Ian del Conde, Cardiovascular Specialist at Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute, says type 1 diabetes is a condition where there's decreased production of insulin because there's damage to the pancreas, so they will need insulin.
And type 2 diabetes is different. According to Del Conde, people with this type of diabetes produce insulin, but they have insulin resistance, so the insulin is not doing what is meant to be doing due to several factors.
Older people who are typically overweight tend to suffer from type 2 diabetes, which is the most common disease.
