What’s the BRCA Gene?

BRCA stands for Breast Cancer Susceptibility Gene. Even when everyone has the gene, some women inherit the gene with a mutation. The women with this genetic change have a greater chance of developing breast and ovarian cancer.

Knowing the presence of the mutation can be helpful for the patient and the doctor to make important decisions about health, such as genetic counseling, testing and enhanced screenings.
